Contrary to popular
belief that the Angels were just emotionaless fashion mannequins, the characters actually were prone to falling in love and
experiencing the routine mishaps of human desire. Nearly every romance that would
come along would have one of the Angels falling for the "bad" guy, and when a "good" guy did come along he usually wasn't
too thrilled to learn that the Angel in question was lying to him about who she really was!
The only Angel to be married was Sabrina. Her former husband
Bill worked at the LAPD and continued to date his ex-wife on occasion. Due to
comments made by Kelly in "Night of the Strangler", viewers can assume that Sabrina has a few notches on her bedpost. Upon meeting the one man she would love more than any other, Doug O'Neil, Sabrina
would reveal that she had been hurt enough not to trust anyone too easily ("Angel in Love").
In the end, Sabrina did find someone she could trust and ended up married with children ("Love Boat Angels").
Jill was, without a doubt, a pleasure seeking gold digger. Not satisfied with the amount of money Charlie was paying her, she took off to win big bucks in car races
all over the world. Living the jet set lifestyle, she was destined to meet wealthy
men and get the materialistic things she craved. Her fiancée, Steve Carmody was
a gambler in debt, but no doubt enjoyed expensive living like Jill did ("Angel Come Home").
Sadly for Jill, he would die in a fatal explosion. She would later fall
for a prince who was filthy rich ("The Prince & the Angel"), and even a high class jewel thief with eccentric tastes in
fine living ("Fallen Angel").
Kris had her shares of love highs and lows, but the one that got away was Ted Markham,
a computer genius who robbed ATM machines he designed to bankroll his gambling splurge in Vegas. Kris was sent to set him up, but then fell in love with him. Even
though she was relieved to learn that he had returned all the money to the banks he robbed, she felt too guilty to go traveling
the world with him ("Angel on a Roll"). Of all the Angels, she was probably the
luckiest in love. Her brief romances were short but sweet, and Kris never seemed
to suffer a broken heart to the degree that Jill, Kelly, and Sabrina did.
Julie's relationship with Harry Stearns seemed based more on a platonic level than
as a romance. He was the father figure she had never had and his death would
affect her forever ("Angel in Hiding"). Tiffany never expressed any interest
in men and never mentioned any previous romances, either. Apparently, she really
was the smartest Angel!
Of all the Angels, Kelly had the worst luck with men.
And much of it was to do with her own personal problems (see "The Tragedy of Kelly Garrett"). Most of the men Kelly fell for were actually decent fellows. Bill
Cord was probably the love of her life. It was the first romance she had where
she let her hair down and just enjoyed herself in the moment. Sadly, she was
betrayed by love and her best friend when she learned Bill had fallen for Kris ("One Love
Two Angels"). The one man who could have changed Kelly's life was Bill
Freeman, a wandering stunt pilot ("Angel on High"). Freeman invited Kelly to
go off with him to see the world, even after he learned of her real identity, and live life with no strings attached. The idea definitely appealed to her, but she stayed with Townsend Associates and continued
her life as a detective.
Believe it or not, Bosley had more romances than anyone. He dated the clients, the suspects, and even an occasional bystander at random. He would name Martha Milton, a woman he met while working undercover at an antique car show as the one
he liked the best ("Antique Angels"). Bosley also claimed to have a wife in "The
Killing Kind". She packed the wrong color shoes with his tuxedo and apparently
that was just cause to get rid of her. She was never mentioned again!
Whenever the Angels argued or fought, it was always over a
man. Sabrina was extremely mad at Kelly and Kris for suspecting her lover, Doug O'Neil in conjunction with the murder at Utopia,
West ("Angel in Love"). Kris and Kelly nearly got into a cat fight over Bill
Cord and were ready to quit their jobs ("One Love Two Angels"). When Jill was
dating a debonair jewel thief in "Fallen Angel", Kelly and Kris were beside themselves with anger over the way she was treating
them and telling them to keep out of her business! Tiffany remained on the straight
path to success by staying away from all those conniving men! Go girlfriend!
