The hair! The teeth! The sparkling personality! Jill Munroe has all these attributes and uses them to her full advantage without any apology. She seems to be the stereotype in which all other Angels are compared, but there is much more to this outgoing
beauty than meets the eye. From her flirtatious behavior and athletic prowess
to her less than subtle greediness and eventual moodiness, Jill Munroe is a very well-rounded Angel in more ways than one.
In her early twenties, Jill completed the police academy in Los Angeles
and left to work for Charles Townsend Associates. Once there, she teamed up with
two other California beauties named Sabrina and Kelly. As the only blonde, Jill no doubt stood apart from the crowd, at least physically. Batting her big baby blue eyes and grabbing a suspect’s attention, Jill used
her sexuality to its fullest to help solve cases and entrap wrong-doers. Her
biggest asset as an Angel was her athletic ability, in which Charlie employed her to use on more than one occasion. As a roller derby queen, Jill had just a little too much fun skating around the rink and showing up tough
bullies like "Bad" Betty ("Angels on Wheels"). She also worked as a tennis instructor
("The Killing Kind") and a disco dance instructor ("Dancing in the Dark"). Her
athletic prowess weren't limited to the office though. She coached an all-girl
basketball league at the gym ("Target Angels") and after going undercover as a masseuse at the Paradise Massage Parlor ("The
Blue Angels"), Jill became extremely interested in the Eastern philosophy of relaxation.
Due to her thirst for adventure, Jill no doubt saw that being a police woman and then a detective would take her to
new and exciting heights. Not only was she a huge baseball fan as a child ("Dancing
in the Dark"), but she was also a self-proclaimed "Roy Rogers freak" ("Night of the Strangler").
Adventure wasn't the only thing Jill thirsted for. As any regular viewer of CHARLIE'S
ANGELS can tell you, Jill was incredibly concerned about making money. And more
money! On more than one occasion she commented on how poorly they were paid,
even telling Bosley that the only reason Charlie hired them was because he couldn't find anyone else to "work as cheap as
we do" ("Target
Angels"), and was also known
to hit Charlie up for some fringe benefits.
It should have come as no surprise that Jill wouldn't stick around for too long. Realizing that she would never get rich as a detective, Jill went out into the world
for more thrill-seeking - this time as a race car driver. Entering races all
over Europe and America, she became a
member of the jet set. Jill became a girl for all seasons, socializing with the
racing elite, famous opera singers, very wealthy bachelors, and even a real live prince.
Between her romantic affairs, Jill had become somewhat of a celebrity herself, even winning the Grand Prix in 1979!
Upon her first visit home, Jill revealed to her baby sister, Kris, who she had halfway
put through college, that she was engaged to be married to a fellow racer -one with a bad knack for gambling, but who shared
the same exotic taste as her ("Angel Come Home"). After his death, Jill would
never be the same again. The bubbly zest of life she had radiated so exuberantly
had faded and with it, so did Jill's personality. Instead of laughing, flirting,
and bouncing around as before, Jill was now intensely emotional and extremely moody.
Those white teeth she once flashed so diligently were now hidden behind pursed lips.
It wasn't too hard for Kelly and Kris to buy that she was aiding a jewel thief ("Fallen Angel"), due to her severe
change in disposition over the past few years. To their relief, she was working
behind the scenes with Charlie in arranging a set-up. Occasionally assisting
the Angels wasn't the only detective work Jill indulged in. In "Mother Angel"
it was learned that Jill had solved another jewel theft mystery without any involvement from Charlie.
Jill's racing career and freelance detective work would pay off, for it was quite
clear Jill now possessed the material items and riches she had always craved. Even
though she didn't live in California anymore, she still
kept her beach house. Her travels took her all over the world, and she never
hesitated to tell her former co-workers which exotic place she was off to next.
Jill evolved a great deal from her early days as an Angel to her days as one of the
sports world's finest. Leaving her friends in the dust, Jill's driving ambition
took her further and beyond the limits than any other Angel would ever dare to go. If
there was one thing Jill had more than any other Angel, it was a life outside of work.
Although she had money, friends, the celebrity and the fame, it was never really indicated if Jill was ever completely
satisfied. If only this beautiful Angel could smile and giggle like she had done
so many times before.
